Whitton Centre Dance Academy to be known in this document as WCDA, recognise that we have a duty to safeguard and protect children from abuse as defined by the Children’s Act 2004.

All at WCDA share an obligation to keep children, young people and vulnerable adults safe by

  • Providing a safe environment.

  • Identifying and responding to children, young people and vulnerable adults in need of support and/or protection.

  • Supporting children’s development in ways which will foster a sense of self-esteem and independence.

  • Creating an environment in which every student feels valued and may articulate their feelings in an atmosphere of acceptance.

WCDA will endeavour to ensure that children and young people are protected from harm whilst they are attending classes at Whitton Community Centre by

  • Making sure our staff are carefully selected and known to us.

  • Providing information for teachers in issues of child protection.

  • Ensure all teachers undergo an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.

  • Creating a secure class environment, where students may express themselves and be heard.

  • Taking all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.

  • Taking all reasonable steps to prevent staff members, persons working for us or members of the public from physically or emotionally abusing any child or vulnerable adult.

  • Reporting to the Principal any evidence or reasonable suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult has been physically or emotionally abused whilst participating at WCDA.
